Multiply, Inc. (http://multiply.com), announced that its nearly three million users can now post
photos, videos, audio, and links to their personal blog or profile from
any email-enabled device, including mobile phones, blackberries, as
well as laptops. The release of Multiply’s on-the-go functionality for
the first time brings multi-media blogging to a social networking site
from a range of email-enabled devices. Mobile posting to Multiply requires a free Multiply account and a mobile device
capable of sending email or Multi-media Messaging Service (MMS)
messages. Unlike many mobile offerings, Multiply does not require users
to sign up with any specific carrier, calling plan, nor do users have
to purchase a specific hardware device, such as a particular cell phone
model. Multiply’s newest feature allows users to extend their social
networking activities while they are on-the-go.

Multiply is a fully integrated social networking, communications and
digital content-sharing platform that lets users stay connected with
family, friends, co-workers, friends of friends, and whoever else they
would like. With Multiply, users can easily share their digital lives -
photos, video, music and personal blogs – all in one place. The service
lets users control who specifically can see or read each piece of
information they post and who can’t. It puts privacy controls directly
in each user’s hands. Multiply’s distinctive message board, use of
AJAX-based "live replies," and ability to create subgroups of friends
and family to easily stay in touch and converse, fosters dynamic
discussions and real-time conversations.
Multiply said its users are trailblazing a new path
in social networking with their ability to post personal content in
near real-time to their online site or blog, while they are on-the-go.
Video from a little league baseball game or photo from a concert can be
shared with a user’s "personal" social network via Multiply's unrivaled
message board. A user’s personal message board notifies them whenever
someone in their social network has shared new content or posts – or
when new replies have been added to existing posts. It also informs a
Multiply user who, among their friends and family, has reviewed their
digital media. With this patented technology, people can communicate
and engage in conversation about digital content that has been posted,
whether that is with a video, photo, music, blog or bookmark, all in
one convenient location.
Recent research by
M:Mobile looked at the types of mobile social networking people are
engaged in. They found that 6.5% of U.S. mobile subscribers engage in
social networking activities. Additionally, nearly 12% of U.S.
respondents said they were likely to post a photo or video to the web
in the coming year. As mobile phones increasingly have photo and video
capabilities, the numbers of users uploading content will only grow. "Today's range of mobile devices let people capture the spontaneous
moments and share them near real-time. Multiply users can now blog or
share new content they have created such as videos or photos of special
moments – with virtually no delay," says Peter Pezaris, Multiply's
President and Founder. "Unlike sites that aggregate random mobile posts
from strangers into a huge public pool, Multiply allows its users to
share those spontaneous moments with their real inner circle of
contacts."
